About Us
Who Are We?
The Akram Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that was officially established in mid-year 2023, designed to provide charitable aid to orphaned children, in the form of food, shelter, and education. Since 2019, we have expanded our operations from 83 children to over 200 children last Ramadan. With the permission of Allah, we will continue to grow and sustain our efforts throughout the region.

Our Mission
The Akram Foundation’s mission is based in our responsibility as Muslims to give to the less fortunate, particularly orphans. We are resolved to provide aid and ample opportunities to orphaned children throughout Somalia. Our goals are the following:
- Empower the marginalized by increasing their quality of life.
- Create new opportunities for the youth.
- Promote social equality through targeted community projects.
Our Vision
Our vision is to help create a new Somalia, one in which all orphans are loved and taken care of as they deserve. We firmly believe that the Akram Foundation will take an integral part in accomplishing the following:
- Equality of opportunity between orphans and the average child
- No orphans starving or denied an education
- A society in which orphans are valued and cared for
Our Values
The Akram Foundation was established to support those most in need, namely orphaned children. We consider the following values to be paramount in achieving these goals:
– Sadaqah: We hold sadaqah (voluntary charity) to be a principle that, if channeled collectively, can change the world for the better.
– Equality: We believe in supporting the less fortunate to create a more just, equitable, and peaceful world.
They ask you, [O Muhammad], what they should spend [in charity]. Say, “Whatever you spend of good is [to be] for parents and relatives and orphans and the needy and the traveler. And whatever you do of good – indeed, Allah is Knowing of it.” —2:215
